• Hi I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way to allow non registered members to upload media (video media) to your site. Or even registered members but not let them post it. Does anybody know of anything like this or anything that comes close to this?

Thanks for replying but I was more looking for a plugin or something that allows anybody to upload media or files to your site and then it puts it in a folder for me.

I’m sure others will have better ideas, but in my mind if you’re allowing anyone to upload videos, then it doesn’t really have to be a WordPress plugin at all (as any upload script will do) since it’s not related to the user base.

The key thing would be how you then present the media maybe?

Very true indeed. Although I am not a coder per say. How would one go about finding and incorporating said script into a wordpress theme?

I found one that looks decent but I am not sure if its able to go along with wordpress. Any suggestions on it? https://encodable.com/filechucker/

Also this product to. https://encodable.com/userbase/ I would like to incorporate them into wordpress but I am not exactly sure how.

Just out of interest, who will be the person that will post and/or publish the videos on to your actual WordPress site?

The admin whoever I decide that to be. Not quite sure yet.

Perhaps it’s possible to just use the script as standalone, then use one of the multitude of video plugins available to post it ??

Lorelle on WordPress compiled a list early last year, so it maybe a little out of date, but there are quite a few video related plugins in the repository. Some others find this plugin quite useful.

p/s: If you didn’t want to pay for the upload script, an alternative might be: Uber Uploader – not tried it myself, but apparently development is still active!

Nice Thanks for the links. I found the post about the video plugins earlier. I thought about using it as a standalone and then posting them to wordpress but if its possible I would rather upload em and then have a link or something that it the person can go to right away. It all depends on that pretty much. Got any ideas on how to do that?

I don’t know much about dedicated video managers, but I did come across one called Vidavee today. I think it might still be in beta, but it pretty much allows you to upload video files easily.

The only question is, I have no idea if it allows normal registered users to upload videos or just the admin?

Yeah I installed it and I could only upload if I was logged in. Oh well I’ll be trying out the free one and the paid one. Who knows maybe they will be what I am looking for. Also I was wondering if you know of any site that does like css templates or know of anybody cheap that would do a really simple design for me. When I say I mean like 2 boxes and a few lines and thats it. Anyways let me know thanks

I’d look at themes from here: Weblog Tools Collection

Other than that: Official Themes Page

p/s: Always worth doing a search on the forums ?? I find most things aren’t delivered on a plate :p

    hyperhookup,

I’m needing to do the same thing. I don’t want to have people logging in to my blog to post a picture or video. I want them to just be able to post a comment and add a pic or video.

I’m still looking as well, and like you I’m no coder, I can change it (and break it) but not create it.

If you find anything please post it.

    Bryan
