    Hi there
I have installed stop spammers. I am receiving ‘allow list request’ from some ‘marked as spammer’ registrations. I have clicked on the ‘allow, thumbs up icon’ on the allow request list but I cannot find the registration in my ‘registered’ list. What happens when I click ‘allow’. Does the registration NOT go through? Or do I have to email the user and ask them to re-register?

  • In most cases, they never actually registered; they were blocked before they could do so. That’s probably the most important feature of Stop Spammers, stopping spam registrations dead in their tracks so that you don’t end up with hundreds or even thousands of spam users that you then have to clean up later, which is how most other anti-spam plugins deal with it.

When you click to allow them, you’re whitelisting their IP. Sometimes that’s not good enough and you might need to clear their email and username too.

Be careful who you approve though, because them requesting access does not indicate that they’re not a spammer; you still need to do a little detective work. Of course, whenever you do actually get a false positive, it can be a pain in the butt to manually manage. Personally, I just clear them and call it good. Generally, they’ll come back and try again on their own and now be able to get through.

Unless you’re running a store and therefore can’t afford to lose them, I wouldn’t bother personally emailing them.
