    Hi,
I would like to allow my contributor (contributor role permission) to set the Keyphrase and change the URL slug (at the moment his changes on the slug are reverted when he saves the post). At the moment he seems to be only able to edit the meta description field.

I don’t want to install any other unnecessary “user roles” plugins for such small thing.

Could you please tell me the code I should paste in Functions PHP to allow the “Contributor user role” to set keyphrase, set slug and set meta title?

    Hello Deon,

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Hi,
probably my question wasn’t clear. I don’t want my writer to become a SEO manager or SEO editor. I want him to still have the same exact permissions he has now as “Contributor” + the ability to set a keyphrase, a slug and a meta title.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, the easiest way to achieve this would be with the User Role Editor plugin.

If you don’t want to install that plugin, you can customize user roles with code as well. You or your developer can use the available WordPress functions to remove roles and capabilities. An example can be found here on how to remove roles, and you can learn more about the roles here.

However, as for the specific code that you are requiring, as much as we hate to say it, your question goes beyond the technical expertise of me and my colleagues on the Yoast support team. This means we can’t give you a solid answer to your question.

But we don’t want to leave you empty-handed either, that’s why we’ve created our developer portal at developer.yoast.com. This has proven to be useful to many developers in the past and hopefully will serve you well too.

Sorry we can’t be of more help here.
