Allow Buyers to use credit/debit card as Guest without creating PayPal Account

  • How can Buyers checkout with a credit/debit card as a ‘Guest’ without having to create a PayPal Account?

    Right now during checkout the only two options are: a) Login to PayPal or b) Create a PayPal Account. There is no option for ‘checkout as Guest’ which could be a major turnoff for Buyers who do not wish to create a PayPal account.

    Hi,

    If you (the seller) have a PayPal business or premier account, the customers will see the credit card payment option when they go to the paypal checkout page.

    1) It a regular seller account (not a business or premier account). Is there a ‘workaround’ that? ‘WP PayPal’ Plugin provides the Checkout as Guest option without requiring a business or premier account but unfortunately it does not offer the ability to provide discount codes.

    2) Also, I did a Test checkout and Logged in using my seller PayPal account and it is allowing me to checkout and make the purchase. I thought PayPal does not allow sellers to conduct a Test purchase using the same Seller account?

    You need a PayPal business or premier account for the credit card option to appear when paying. It is free by the way.

    I am not really sure about question 2. I don’t see a problem buying your own product with your paypal account for testing. After all the money belongs to you. Perhaps PayPal allows this in your PayPal account. Can you ask PayPal support about this.

    This is typical with all the shopping carts including ‘WP PayPal’ Plugin. PayPal simply won’t allow you to login in and make a purchase. That is why I would like to know why your plugin allows that to happen?

    This behavior you are talking about is not controlled by the plguin (it can’t be controlled by the plugin). This is something controlled by PayPal only. As far as I know, the same account can’t be used to do a transaction. However, PayPal may have made changes to this behavior. I don’t see how this is an issue anyway?

    In your next plugin update can you add regular PayPal accounts that are non-business to allow checkout with a credit/debit card as a ‘Guest’ without having to create a PayPal Account?

    You have a great plugin with all the bells and whistles but this is a major flaw in your plugin and it should be added because no customer should be FORCED to create a PayPal account to make a purchase.
