    Hello,

This is a strange request but here it goes. Is it possible to allow an empty or blank wordpress comment to be left on a website? I’ve currently got a site set up with a rating system attached to the comments. The comments are used as a sort of additional information entry and ideally I need them to be optional. This will allow people to just leave a rating and ignore the comment box.

Can this be done at all?

    Thank you.

Just an idea: I’m not sure how to un-require the comments field for this purpose, but maybe try creating a custom form that can be embedded in the post itself that people can fill out? Then you can even add additional fields like “rating”, etc.

That doesn’t sound like a bad idea to me. I’d need to add the form to the theme so I can hide it from non-registered users but not bad. I’d also need to find a way to post the form results in a list so that they looked like comments. They’d need to be monitored too so if someone was leaving heinous comments they could be removed.

I’m going to put that in the “last resort” pile as ideally I’d like to just allow comments to be empty but thanks for the suggestion. Once I’ve worked it out in my head more it might actually help with other issues I’ve had.
    Thank you.

Actually Tara, you’ve led me onto this path of greatness and this is going to help me finish this website.

    Thank you greatly.
