All widgets are gone…

In the meantime I am looking for some more info about it.

At an old post it was advised to delete and install parent theme again.
I did that and…
After enabling my child theme I had my widgets back. They were a little bit in confusion. I had to put them back in the original place. For example widget from footer three was by footer twoo, from footer twoo was by footer one and so on.
Then I tried to specify a static page to be shown at frontpage. I can choose a page, it shows it. Then I save, still looks like ok, After refreshing (what happens automatically after saving) It has not save the change.

Also I have tried to change it throug WP dashboard.. Settings > Reading. It shows a blank option for frontpage /static page.
I choose 1 page and when trying to save it it gives this message:
“The chosen static front page must be translated in all languages.”

Then I go trying it vis String translations from Polylang. It saves no changes….

Hope you can help me…. I am not that technical and have no clues om whatelse to do…

If you disable Polylang you still have these issues?
If not, maybe you can consider to report these problems to their support forum, I don’t know … :/

This is the second time I have this kind of issue and I am not sure but I do think it was just after I have chosen no pages nor post to my frontpage.

After that I can not choose a static page for the frontpage anymore.

Is there any way to force via ftp of… to change this parameters?

So it happens when you select no page + polylang?

I have tried it…

Now I do have something to tell ….

1 – Deactivate Polylang.
able to set a static page.
2 – Activate Polylang
multilingual site back, but a lot of texts are not translated anymore.
Starting by the tagline, slider only 1 for all language, it looks like string translations are gone. Everything there is only in the standard language. It is set in 3 languages, for the 3 languages the text is exactly the same “Read more” for all 3 languages (before all of this I could see all 3 different texts).
3 – Trying to change / update translations.
Field is open to be written but it saves no change at all. It gives no error code of so….. just donot save….

All translations are gone….

What should I do…..

It looks like Polylang has lost its way…. but it also looks like everything begon with that option “no posts nor pages ” by the frontpage……

How to go on now?…. no clue……

Maybe important to say. I am really good in copy and paste But not, not, not good in coding or so….

the fact that the strings are gone, could be an issue with the db. Dunno.
Anyway Copy your child-theme functions.php in pastebin.com and then paste the link here. I’ll try to reproduce your issue …

You said that now it works, but it has lost the translations strings.. so .. don’t think they’ll come back but probably you’ve nothing to lose (since you haven’t them anymore) so.. try ??
