• Fresh install of WordPress, no plugins. When I upload an image, it acts like the image isn’t there. When I go to the image’s page, the photo is there, along with all the metadata, but the thumbnails are empty and the images don’t show up on the page when I insert it.

When I say “empty” I mean as if the link that goes to that image is broken, where you get the big grey box with the alt tags and the dimensions of the image.

This problem happens from the very beginning, i.e. the uploader itself shows the image as empty rather than the thumbnail preview. Has happened with all three photos I’ve uploaded so far.

Been having some issues with https since the install a few hours ago…possibly related?

  • Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

    Thanks Esmi,

Right now all the sub-pages are showing up as 404s, so there’s not much to show. I’ll post a link to a subpage as soon as I resolve that problem (in talks with web host).

Thinking all the site problems could be due to installing WP has https instead of http…the installation walkthrough suggested I use https so I went for it. Is that problematic for WordPress in general?

    The site is wildfireprevention.info.

It shouldn’t be if you install WP using https right from the start. Check that anti-hotlinking isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.
