• Hi

I have to take care of a new WP website (WP 5.1.1, PHP 7.4.33, Theme Astra 2.5.4, and 24 plugins)

I wanted to start with updating the plugins. But that doesn’t work. The process stops and shows a “-1”.

Some plugins had been on automatic update. There is an error message on the plugins page (I translate from German to English): One automatic update could not be completed –?please start update anew. When I click on that link nothing happens.

I checked FTP permissions, I cleared WP Rocket Cache, I disabled Wordfence.

Any tips where I should start looking?

Would it be wise to update the PHP Version first? Or the WordPress Version first? I was hesitant to do so because I don’t want to crash the site.

    Thanks a lot

Do you have the plugin Astra Starter Templates installed? If so, it’s blocking updates. Deactivate it, then update it. That will fix the update issues. You can then re-activate it and update your other plugins normally.

(this Astra Start Templates thing, is that something you use in the beginning and then don’t need it anymore or does it have to stay?)

Best to ask directly to Astra support about issue “this Astra Start Templates thing, is that something you use in the beginning and then don’t need it anymore or does it have to stay?”
