All Subscribers in Author drop down list

Check if you gave ‘edit_posts’ capability to your subscribers accidentally.

I reviewed the subscriber profile and although I had some other settings turned on which probably should have been turned on, the problem is still happening.

Could you show the screenshot of your “subscriber” role opened at the User Role Editor?
