  • I’ve been using this plugin for a few years and I’m delighted with the new version. I can’t understand why would anyone complain and give a low rating here (one star, really?). Fellow WP lovers, read the documentation, invest a little effort and you’ll find out that this is a brilliant plugin https://github.com/mikejolley/download-monitor/wiki. Actualy this is a premium plugin but it’s free of charge. The best download manager out there, full of features, stable, with good support, very well documented, easy to use out of the box, highly configurable (for users who read documentation) and great for developers.

    Agreed that’s it’s a great plugin.

    I have checked documentation and have posted several times about how to upgrade to this plugin but haven’t had an answer and was so hoping you could give me your wisdom!

    Simply put, I have been using DM for several years. Now a brand new version has come out, do I have to delete plugin and reinstall it or is there another way?

    When I try to download the newest version it says I already have the newest version, even though it’s the old one.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Have you tried with “Download Monitor Legacy Importer” plugin?
    “If you want to update from a legacy version (old 3.0.x version) of Download Monitor, after installing the new version you’ll need to also install and run the Download Monitor Legacy Importer.     Remove old plugin instal new one and install Legacy Importer, go to Tools > Import, click “Download Monitor Legacy Importer” and follow the on-screen instructions.
    (but before anything backup you database just in case)

    dariodev – THANK YOU!!!!!! I had already downloaded the Legacy Importer but was too chicken to delete the DM plugin and reinstall. Was worried I was missing something or would end up deleting years of downloads!

    I’m off to backup and install new plugin.

    I agree that it is a great plugin… when it works. However, the shortcodes do not work as documented and there is no support. For those reasons I would have trouble recommending it.
