I have blogged for over six years. And nothing like this has happened before.
All of my pictures from my blog New Life on the Road have gone.
All of my pictures are now broken links.
I have gone into my FTP file via FileZilla and gone through the steps of looking at public_html and fix the settings there.
I have taken away plugins one at a time and nothing changes
I have looked at my permalinks – that is not the issue.
I have not changed my hosting or site from another platform to the one I have.
I did upload a new wordpress theme – ColorMag but I don’t see how that could cause my photos to disappear because I have changed themes previously with no issues.
The only thing I did at the same time was install a plug-in iThemes Security – which I have since deleted but has not fixed the issue.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Please confirm that the wp-content/uploads directory and those files exist.

To rule out ant theme conflict, try switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thanking you – going to try and upload a basic theme now.

Yes the wp-content/uploads directory /files do exist.

    Okay, I have changed a theme to Twenty Sixteen. Still the same issue where no photos are showing and have over 2000 broken links {which is my pictures links}

Ok @lisawsdream , when I try to open one of the “missing” pictures, it tells me

It appears you don’t have permission to access this page.403 Error. Forbidden.

That usually means, the permissions to the files are not sufficient.

Please take a look at this article Fix 403 Error and check your file permissions using a ftp program.

Find out which permissions are set for wp-uploads folder and for the images and folders inside. If all is configured “normally”, folders should have 755 and files (images) 644.

    Good luck

    Thanking you Anja,

So I have followed the Fix 403 Error and I am up to the steps of going through the video instructions.
I am in public_html – and I have changed the wp-content permissions as per instructions – I am in FileZilla.
Its been going for over an hour of scanning and processing and changing directories – and its still going….is that normal to take that long?

Okay I did every step in the above video – I lost every single plug-in and so I have sat here for ages and looked for every plug-in and reinstalled it.
I am now talking with HostGator to see if they can fix it. Thanking you for your help
