we had to a do an updraft restore of my WordPress site, which appeared successful. however all the albums no just have grey squares where the photo was and a ? in the centre. could you please advise how I might re-sync wppa so the photo show correctly, or advice what might not have been restored successfully which would cause this issue.

    many thanks

if this helps, I’ve just checked the content of the wppa-source album and there is only 6 random albums rather than several hundred, and they are empty

    the directory

    wp-content/uploads/wppa/thumbs

has a thumbnail jpg for all the missing photos

Also look at wp-content/uploads/wppa/ for all the display files (like used in slideshows, same structure as …/thumbs/ but larger images)

If you restored the database, did you also restore the wppa db tables like wppa_albums, wppa_photos etc? See Advanced settings -> Constants -> I -> Items 1..7?
Related to this: Are the albums there in the Photo Albums -> Album admin page? i,e, the table of albums?

    Hi Jacob, thanks for answering.

In wordpress I can see all the albums in the Album Admin page and when I select an album that it says has photos, all the photo details are there, but no visible photo.

I’ve also looked wp-contents/uploads/wppa/ and all the jpg files are there.

The only restoration I have undertaken is an UpdraftPLUS restore from previous backup……

I do not know about UpdraftPLUS.
Go to the album admin page, open an album and scroll to a photo information panel.

There will be some or all links to files like:

    Permalink: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/wp-content/wppa-pl/Members/20220508_125320.jpg
    High resolution url: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/wp-content/uploads/wppa-source/album-1/20220508_125320.jpg
    Display file url: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/wp-content/uploads/wppa/45/35.jpg
    Thumbnail file url: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/wp-content/uploads/wppa/thumbs/45/35.jpg

Try them to see what happens. You should open te browser console to see waht the errors are. If you do not know how, give me a list like above, then i can see myself.
Maybe its just a rights matter

    Hi

I have gone into the album

I licked on the high res url, xxx.com/wp-content/uploads/wppa/22.jpg and I get the page saying “Oops! That page can’t be found.”

I have checked via cPanel and the photo is in wp-content/uploads/wppa/22.jpg

Some other information, while in the album the source file, display file and thumbnail file all state “Unavailable”

    thanks

This looks like a corrupted .htaccess file.

Try this: WP Settings page -> Permalinks

    (@coffeecuplj)

I have WordPress instructions on how to deal with a corrupt .htaccess file (delete it and let WordPress rebuild it) and it has had no effect.

Separately — I decided to upload a new photo into one of my Albums – the upload was reported to have worked, and a message at the bottom of the Album Admin page recorded it as such, however…. when I edited the album the place for the uploaded photo was there, but no visible photo

So, if its not the .htaccess file, its maybe the fs rights on ../wp-content/uploads/wppa/ and inside that.

Use an ftp prog to inspect the rights.
The files should all have at least 644, the dirs 755

    Hi Jacob

I couldn’t resolve the WPPA specific issue we’ve investigated here in isolation, but thanks to a really helpful member of the support team from my domain hosting company he fixed the database corruption (that they had caused) and returned the whole website to a fully working state (which fixed the WPPA issue we’ve been trying to fix here).

Turns out that when the domain hosting company upgraded my service they did an incomplete restore of the background files over the top of others, which is why part of the website looked old and part new but uncorking.

All is now resolved with my website, and thank you again for your efforts to fix the WPPA aspects.
