All “pages” have become “posts” – Can’t Add New Pages

  • have just noticed that all the static Pages on one of our sites have become Posts. That is, they no longer display when called with wp_list_pages (and they always did), and now when I look in the Manage section, the Pages tab reports no Pages exits. I can see the Pages now listed amongst the Posts on the Manage Posts tab. And I can no longer add any Pages either.

    Any ideas as to why this is happening? Is it perhaps related to the frequent apparently automatic disabling of all my plugins?

    So in a nutshell:

    1. Our “Pages” are not showing only as “Posts”
    2. Our plug-ins are disabled automaticall and at the time of this happening when Pages turned to Posts
    3. We can no longer make new PAGES

    We are running 2.2 of WordPress and have had no problems until 3-4 days ago.

    The first thread even speaks about a plugin that could help you.
    I was actually looking for a thread about upgrading from 2.3.3 to 2.5 in which somebody describes how he got his pages back to being pages, but…

    We did the upgrade to 2.5 from 2.2 just a few minutes ago – the site works – and now redirects the PAGE urls to the POSTS – which I find odd.

    But we can still not add PAGES and the old PAGES are still POSTS.

    https://www.zerohourmktg.com – is the URL – and we are now on 2.5 – I did backup the MYSQL prior to the upgrade – but I’m not sure how to go back in time and see if that is indeed the issue. From our end there doesn’t seem to be anything of suspect content if we were hacked – but I think we were not and this is some odd bug.

    Just tried that by adding a .htaccess file with

    <IfModule mod_security.c>
    SecFilterEngine Off
    SecFilterScanPOST Off
    </IfModule>

    in the wp-admin directory – do I need to put it in the root? So far it hasn’t worked in the wp-admin directory.

    Doesn’t seem to fix the issue by adding it in both places. Or one then the other.

    i am running 2.1.1

    several months ago this happened to me when i installed a plug-in, simple-forum. rather than trying to figure out a code fix i wound up copying all content and remaking pages and deleting the posts then updated htaccess. worked fine until 4/17 when it happened again. this time when the site hiccuped and all my plugins deactivated. when i activated plugins my pages were in posts again.

    are you getting the error message “page can’t be found” and any other error message. are you having issues with “tags” too?

    i asked my isp to go back one day and restore the database to see if that would fix it. this created a bigger problem at the moment. awaiting forum and isp answers.

    I am not seeing Page Can’t Be Found – and we’ve asked for a restore as well – but so far nothing has worked. Seems like it has to be caused from somewhere and enough people here have had similar or the same problem.

    when looking at my db via phpmyadmin i am looking at all the table headers. what i don’t see is something that says ” wp-pages ” or something to that effect. i was able to write and save a test page but i did not add a new table.

    is there a header for pages that i am supposed to see?

    Here may be answer to what happened. At least it describes what exactly happened to me in 1/08 and this past week…
