My blog is at https://www.art-patrol.com. I am running an old version of WordPress. Everything was working normally until this morning, and now all pages appear blank. What changed? I don’t know whether an upgrade will fix it, and I have never done one. Is there some reason my old version of WordPress should not work any more? It has always worked, and my philosophy is, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, now it’s broken, and I am clueless. Any thoughts?

    Does this help?

Your site is still compromised, the fact the site started working without any involvement makes me believe there are more files compromised and one of these files changes the wp-blog-header.php back and forth.

So I guess I should change my passwords, huh? Then, look into replacing compromised files with clean ones?

Sadly, mine didn’t just start working again, but I have been messing with trying to reinstall.

I can’t delete the offending files, though it says I have permission to. My host’s support people say they changed the permissions and that I should be able to delete that damn blog-header.php file, but I still can’t.

    (@ktomasch)

Wow, now the whole FOLDER is gone. Maybe my hosting people did that. Which is fine. They just haven’t told me. I hope it was them.

    ktomasch

    (@ktomasch)

Now my FTP won’t let me create a new folder called “/blog/” after somebody killed that folder. I can create a new folder with any other name, I just can’t create one called /blog/

    ktomasch

    (@ktomasch)

Did anybody else get this sorted yesterday? Was it just a matter of reinstalling?

    ktomasch

    (@ktomasch)

Well, thought I had it. I had WordPress installed and running nicely, just without my previous posts and comments. So I tried to restore the database from backup. Exported it, it wouldn’t import it. Did it again, got a .gz file. Downloaded the damn utility to unzip it and got a file. Imported that. Now all the new stuff is freaking gone!

I swear to God you people make this so much harder than it needs to be. I realize you’re all much smarter than we are, but why the hell can’t you make something that spells out what you’re supposed to do and makes it actually functional for people who don’t do this every day? Would that be too much to ask?

    ktomasch

    (@ktomasch)

So I can have the new look with no previous posts and comments or the posts and comments with a crap look and no functionality. Despite backing up, clearing out twice, re-importing (twice) and renaming, creating a new database and importing on that, it’s STILL not right.

To hell with it. To hell with WordPress. You suck.
