All Other Role ticked by default

  • Hi,

    Is it possible to set ‘Other Roles’ on the Pro version of this plugin to all ticked by default when a new role is created. This means that the user must untick ‘other roles’ to unblock them instead of currently where all ‘other roles’ are by default unblocked when a new role is generated. This has become an issue for us as we continue to add new roles, we have to go back and block the new options on existing roles and any new roles.

    Any guidance on this would be great.

    Hi Sam,

    For situation like yours, I offer to introduce additional “allow” model to the current “prohibit” one. That is ‘allow’ option will be selected by default, but all roles will be unchecked. This way, any new added role will be automatically unavailable until you especially check it.

    It will be ready in a week or two.

    Hi Sam,

    URE Pro Version 4.19 beta 1 is available for the testing. You may take it from the https://www.role-editor.com download page after login. Related changes are:
    – Other roles access add-on: ‘block not selected’ access model was added to the default ‘block selected’ one. It is more convenient in cases when you wish to block automatically all new added roles.
    – Other roles access add-on: use top checkbox control to select/unselect all checkboxes. Click on it with ‘Shift’ key inverts current selection.

    Hi Vladimir,

    Thank you for letting me know about the changes. The new features are functioning as expected however we have found a glitch/bug.

    When a new role is added with ‘block roles’ not selected, the role is generated with its associated permissions however when we go to assign this role to a new user, it does not display.

    When we added another new role, the original role appeared with the latest role still missing from the user role assigning drop down list.

    We continued this process with three new roles with only two roles displaying. So currently to get the new role to display, we have to generate another role.

    We will continue to investigate it however would value your feedback/advice?

    Hi Sam,

    I can not repeat the described issue. I see the last added role at user profile drop-down menu as under administrator, as under user with custom role which may add users, as under user with role from which ‘Other Roles’ excludes some other roles.

    Could you give me more details how to repeat it?
