It would be useful if you could export individual pages or select all the ones in certain categories. Would that be possible at all?

Our server admin has updated the max_execution_time to 360 and I’m trying another export now, but it’s been thinking about it for a long time. I can’t tell if everything is going according to plan. I wasn’t able to update the plugin btw. I just get the message ‘update failed.

The error log reports: [14-Nov-2017 02:00:38 UTC] PHP Warning: array_merge(): Argument #1 is not an array in /home/techslgv/public_html/everythingamiga.com/wp-includes/load.php on line 662

The 1.21 sets the max execution time, and also takes care of the browser timeout. Since the setting only applies when the program is running, it will override any server setting temporarily, so the change your server admin made is not really necessary.

I had a problem with a similar error message (the load.php), with 1.10. I had to manually delete that version; deactivate and delete didn’t work for some reason. I figured that is was some goofy error caused by my troubleshooting, so didn’t worry about it.

Suggest that you update to 1.21. If needed, manually delete the blogtohtml folder in the plugins directory, then reinstall the latest version. Version 1.21 should be better for you, I think.

(Assuming you aren’t tired of hearing from me, or haven’t given up on the plugin…)

Version 1.30 fixes the problem with deactivation not working, and the problem of seeing an ‘Are you sure you want to do this’ message on any post/page publish, and the ‘array_merge() in load.php at line 664’ error.

If you haven’t given up on the plugin, let me know how this one works for you. Not sure if you may need to manually delete the plugin and reinstall if an update doesn’t work.

Sorry for all the problems. They were weird obscure errors; had to do much googles on it, which didn’t result in any help. But all of that research did prompt a late-night ‘aha!’ idea, which fixed the problem.

    Hi,

No, not given up entirely, just put it on hold for a while. I was able to remove the plugin using the tick the box bulk deactivate/delete option and that made all article/media database update failures go away. I’ll re-install the new version soon and give it another go. Just got lots of changes I need to make without any snags for the time being. It was a relief no harm was done anyway.

    No problem.

BTW, just uploaded version 1.40. This one will compress (gz) any attachment sent by email. That should get really large sites emailed without worrying about the mail server’s file attachment size limit.

I tested it on a 1300+ post site, where the generated HTML file was about 25M. Compressing it got it to 7MB, which should be OK for most mail servers.

So I think 1.40 ought to work for your large site. Hopefully. I tested it against the largest site I have access to.

When you get a chance to try it out (no hurry), let me know how it works. I’ll keep fixing it if needed.

BTW, uploaded version 1.50 yesterday; it fixes a problem with galleries not being displayed in posts.

Good to hear you’re still busy improving the plugin. I have to confess I haven’t tried installing it again since we last spoke because I had to finish the book in a piecemeal way, exporting individual posts and then combining them into a single PDF later. That allowed me to check them and then make further edits before re-exporting and adding to the collection. That would have been impractical if it was a single PDF from the outset.

I still like the idea of using Blog to HTML as a one-hit backup solution which will include all pics though. I’d hazard a guess it’s the only thing out there that can achieve this without jumping through a lot of complicated hoops.
