i was updating my blog and realized one of my plugins that i use to resize photos wasn’t turning up when i wanted to upload my pictures.

so i went in and looked at the plugins page, when all sorts of error messages turned up telling me they were all basically invalid, and when i tried to click again to reactivate them, they all just disappeared and all i’m left with is akismet and hello dolly!!

i can’t even remember what sort of plugins i had!!

i just upgraded to the latest wordpress version recently. is it because of that that it crashed? i’m really upset. is there a way to restore all my plugins?

Plugins are typically in the wp-content/plugins folder. The automatic upgrade should not hurt that folder.

If you don’t see the plugins in that folder and you don’t have a backup, then ask your host if they have a backup you could use.

Note–review WordPress Backups for future protection.

    Hello,
I’m having a similar problem. I’ve been getting a lot of spam posts and checked my plugin page. I had downloaded akismet back when I started my blog in June, but it seems to have disappeared. I went to reinstall it, but got the message:
“Destination folder already exists. Plugin install failed.”

Does anyone know how I can reinstall akismet?

    Thank you.

When you go to ashboard > plugins are any plugins shown or do you get an error message?

Did you get an error message when updating to the latest version?

All the plugins I’ve downloaded are there except akismet. It’s like it disappeared. So I didn’t even have an opportunity to install an update, since it doesn’t appear on my page of installed plugins.
I went to the add plugins page, and tried to download and install it again, but the error message said that the destination folder already existed and couldn’t install the plugin.
Maybe if I knew how to access the destination folder and delete it I could reinstall the plugin?
