All my admin pages go blank when activating

Broken Link Checker makes all my admin pages to go blank as soon as it is activated (and, yes, I have traced back the error to this particular plugin!). I have the feeling that it probably places too much high stress for my server configuration. The link check still works in the background, as I do receive an emai message some time later – but that is all the infrmation I can get, as I cannot see any admin pages till I (manually) delete the plugin folder.
If only I could configure some options after activating the plugin but before it started parsing my blog I could probably minimize this problem. OR if it could at least be manually “started” from the options page… In short, if after installation I could have access to the options panel _before_ it actually starts parsing…
