• I notice with the theme I am using for a new site ~ https://wpexpert.directory ~ a number of key meta tags are missing.

    For example, on the homepage…

Keywords not set [no big deal!]
    Meta-Language not set
    Content-Type & Charset not set
    Author not set
    Publisher not set

and on the blog and about page, its the same.

Is this something that’s missing in the theme, or SEO Framework, and is it something which, possibly, “Generator for SEO Framework” could add back in. That’s assuming, of course, its a good idea to do so?

I was thinking of using the All Meta Tags plugin, but then I remembered this one of yours.

    I would value your opinion.

    Terence.

    Hi Terence,

Thank you so much for the suggestion. The Generator plugin is something I won’t extend as it’s an example plugin for the most useless tag out there!

To get back to the requested meta tags, let me explain them one by one:

    Keywords:
These are deprecated, use of these is strongly discouraged.

    Meta-Language:
This will be added in the main plugin in the very near future and will listen to e.g. WPML and qTranslate.

    Content-Type & Charset:
This should be handled by the theme in conjunction with WordPress’ language selector. If it’s not set it’s estimated by the browser, this will work most of the time, especially when using latin languages.

    Author tag:
Deprecated and exchanged for Facebook article:author.

    Publisher tag:
Deprecated (right?) and exchanged for Facebook article:author.

I hope this clears things up! ??

Author SEO is planned as well for the near future!
