All Media and Pages dissapeared Can anyone help?

  • I decided to beef up my security and I have somehow lost my website but the posts are still there. I added a new Admin user account with a diffrent name then deleted the current Admin account. I then changed the password and everything seemed to be fine. I then went to my Hosting site and changed the password to a stronger password and the sql database password to a stronger one.
    A collegue then rang me the next day to inform me that my site was no longer there.
    I have contacted my hosting site but they do not have backups.
    All of my files are still on my site and the database is still there with data in it.
    I tried to copy over a backup of my site from my PC but it made no diffrence. I did not make a backup of the database file (Stupid Mistake I Know)
    I am not sure if this is to do with permissions or not.Perhaps when I deleted the admin user I forgot to do something.
    If anyone can help I would appreciate it as the site had many pages and has taken me weeks to complete.

    I am a WP amateur but here’s what happened to me today.

    I added a new user as an editor (e.g., user1). I decided that I didn’t like the username, so I immediately deleted this new user. When asked what to do with the posts of this user, I let it default to delete them – as I knew that the user account hadn’t been used.

    I then re-added the user with the username I preferred (e.g., user2). When I then went to look at my pages, I noticed that the Author on many of them were user2! I then realized that some of the pages were missing. When I looked on the server, the pages were still there – they just weren’t displaying.

    I found the pages in Trash. I believe that upon adding user1, pages randomly were assigned to this username. When I deleted it and said it was ok to delete user1’s stuff – it moved these items to the trash.

    I didn’t lose all my media, but the Author on many of the items now says “user2”. WRONG.

    Can someone please email me.. [email protected]. I’m so screwed and I can’t even figure out how to post a question on the forums. All of my posts and all of my pages just vanished and I’m reading all this stuff about going into the database and all that and I’m so confused. I don’t even know how to use wordpress. I must have spent about 1500$ having people just set it up for me so all i have to do is just write the posts. I’m sooo illiterate. AND NOW.. I’m screwed and I can’t even post a question to get help. Maybe I could give my login to comeone and they can help me? I’m sure for an experience worpress user this would be simple but for me, I am literally pulling my hair out. I want to cry. Everything is gone. I feel sick to my stomach.
