All links to free wordpress tutorials moderated

Well I can think of one good reason to post instructions when possible, rather than links to external sources. And that is that we don’t know how long those external sources will be there. At least if instructions are written here on the forum, they can be preserved for posterity and anyone wishing to take the trouble to search for them. Not as much glory or Google juice in that, I suppose. But hey, aren’t we here to help for the warm fuzzies anyway? ??

And I appreciate your support…it would be nice to see it here where the attack has been taking place. I think you understand all I have been doing is providing free, video help for people on common problems and issues…along with hundreds of other posts offering help. To have this all the sudden called “spam” and deleted without even contacting me is what I call childish.

Guilty on both counts. Sorry it is causing you a problem…maybe you should leave them for MichaelH to clean up. You know, there is an old saying that goes along the lines…”people will react according to the way they are treated”. If MichaelH wants to label the help I’ve been providing here as spam, then I’ll be happy to make it real spam for him.

I’ll be back often…Samboll…if you see spam here, it’s not intended for you…I’d suggest letting MichaelH deal with it. It takes me hours to create and post a helpful video…only a few minutes to give the “spam czar” what he’s looking for.

This isn’t even about you ‘helping’ people now, it’s about you thinking your better than everyone else because you spend your life making videos. Good for you for providing the help but keep in mind it’s not all about you.

Sorry for sticking my nose into this, but I’ve been following this topic in the forum’s email list as well here (as of today) and I have a few things to say.

@figaro – While I can certainly understand your frustration with having your links removed, I must say that I feel that your video links should be considered spam and MichaelH is not in error for removing them.

These are not purely video links – Each links to your blog where you have advertising as well as offer Premium WordPress Support for rates well beyond that of the old I’ll buy you a beer amount. Basically, I see this as an attempt to rope in new clients. I noticed that you host your videos on YouTube. Have you attempted to post a link to your video on YouTube? If the answer is “no” I would seriously look into your true motivations for posting here.

If you find your motivations are purely to help people, I would suggest that you contact wordpress.tv and request that your videos be added there. They seem to be welcoming:

If they post your video, then you can link to it all you want without fear of moderation.

I just looked through a few of the threads that you answered and it looks like 15 out of the 30 posts on your user page have moderated links that were most likely backlinks to your website. That’s 50%.

I checked out this thread to see what was going on, and following the link in question is miles away from following one of your tutorial links. First of all, there is no paid advertising. Second, There are no paid services offered. Third there are no links at all. This is purely a resource the seeks to provide information with no strings attached what-so-ever. I see no similarities in this comparison.

oops! trouble in paradise figaro?

Im on the fence. As someone who was initially very skeptical of figaro, Im happy he’s stuck around as long as he has.

that said — Ive continued to be skeptical only because I happen to agree somewhat with the person that posted immediately prior to me about the support/theme stuff.

Not to take anything away from his site’s helpfulness — just that well.. when you’re selling something on your site, you want people to click, and if helpful vids do it.. there ya go. I think if figaro were honest, he would cop to the fact that the vids help everyone all around, himself included.

Then again, whats wrong with that, I guess. There’s no-one with a gun to a head after you click.

I must say, I do get a kick out of figaro pulling that “how many pages are there in my profile” feather out of his hat. Funny how that happens — very funny.

oops! trouble in paradise figaro?

No trouble for me…my site and any money I make from the site (which is a total of about $100 since I set it up) is not dependent on www.remarpro.com…all of which, and them some, I’ve donated back to WP plugin (Ozh admin menu–to name one) and theme (iNove to name one) developers. I have one full-time, good paying job, and I’m retired from another once, with a good pension. Think what you want…it’s not about money for me. Putting links here is the most direct way to help people with WordPress problems.

I’ll keep the site just the way it is and get just as much traffic as I ever have…no-follow links here are of no help. Of course, if I were simply interested in site traffic, there are much easier and quicker ways to get it…I could, for example, simply copy articles from the docs here and post them to my site…content is king and doing that on a regular basis would drive more Google traffic to my site than 10 videos and would take a fraction of my time…of course, it wouldn’t help anyone, but my site.

When I logged in this morning, and created my new account so I could post ;-), I see there are lots of unanswered questions here…in the past, I would spend 30 minutes or so before heading off to work answering some. Today, when I finish this post, then first thing I’m going to do is save it (so I can repost it, just in case your rough moderator deletes it ;-), then I’m going to spend about 5 minutes giving MichaelH some stuff to look for, then I’m off.

That’s what I’ve been trying to say but it just seems to fuel his fire. I’m not sure if he is even who he says he is, retired with a full time job? A grown man wouldn’t act so childish. He’s even resorted to making people think I’m a jerk on his website even though I said I appreciate his videos and that they are helpful. I suppose I’m a jerk for taking sides with the mods on this one.

@figaro It’s not like they are asking you to take your site down or something, you are making mountains out of molehills here. Seriously if you are who you say you are don’t you have better things to do (like a real life) instead of spamming the forum some more? Or are you just one of those poor old men who hate their family and is angry at the world because life didn’t turn out as planned?

We can all sit around and talk crap all day but in the end it’s just the internet. It’s just words.
