All line breaks and para breaks being removed – with toggling

  • If I enter copy in Text mode that uses line breaks or paragraphs, then toggle to Visual, and then back to Text, I end up with:

    All line breaks and para breaks being removed.

    Toggling back to Visual Mode confirms line breaks and paragraph breaks are gone and all the copy runs together.

    A new problem emerged in version 3.9.1 ???

    Does this include paragraph and line break markup? Where are you pasting this text from?

    Yes, it does include markup. Full html markup.
    I can paste from Dreamweaver, or compose as I go along.

    What happens if you just add your text manually?

    I do enter the code manually.
    Toggling between the 2 formats REMOVES the paragraph and line break markup.

    Don’t try to add HTML markup using the Visual editor. That’s what the HTML tab is for. Don’t switch editing tabs either. That’s the fastest way to remove some (or all) of your markup. Pick a tab and stick to it.

    It is common to have to find the exact point in the page by going to the HTML tab.
    The problem is that the paragraph and line break markup disappears when you toggle back to Visual.
    But excuse me, surely it is a basic flaw for this editor software to take the initiative all by itself and remove markup. The software is a tool, not a decision-making brain.

    This is still not resolved in the latest wordpress 4.0.1 ??

    I can confirm that switching between text and visual is removing my linebreaks and paragraphs breaks.
