    Hi All:

I’ve set the “Social Settings” tab for my home page to display the same image image as that set as the Featured Image on my home page, but when I go to post on Facebook using the FB button my home page, instead of the Home Page image, it posts to image set for the next page (i.e. the “About” page).

I’ve checked the FB debugger, and scraped repeatedly, but no joy…same wrong image gets posted. Other images I’ve set the same way for my other web pages at this domain name get posted correctly on FB.

I’ve checked, and the image does meet the spec for an FB acceptable image. Also, when I use this same image on another page in the same website/theme, it gets posted correctly. Also, when I deactivate All-in-One SEO, and then post the Home page on FB, this same Feature Image gets posted correctly.

What’s happening with this? Is anyone the same problem? How did you get around it?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

The image URL you’ve configured for AIOSEOP on your homepage is https://newnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/20190216_NewNotes-Website-Core-Image_4.jpg, which is an invalid image. Because of this, Facebook has decided to use the next available, which is the one from your about page.
This information is in the Facebook debugger. https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fnewnotes.com%2F

Thanks Michael. But I don’t understand why it’s an “invalid” image. It’s a .jpg like any other, no? I’ve used it on other pages from the same ULR in my Media library as a test, and it posted to FB correctly.

I don’t know who marked this topic as “Resolved” but it is NOT resolved.

The error I’m getting from the debugger is: “Provided og:image URL, https://XXX.jpg could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.”

This error makes no sense to me, because the file is an ordinary .jpg like any of the others AIOSEO is using correct for my other web pages. In fact the image it has chosen to substitute is exactly the same content type as the one it’s rejected

Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this problem?

This is resolved. As I’ve said, https://newnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/20190216_NewNotes-Website-Core-Image_4.jpg isn’t a valid image. The URL 404s in the browser which is a pretty good indication that there’s no image at that URL..
Either way, this isn’t a problem with All in One SEO Pack. The plugin is simply providing the URL you specified to Facebook, nothing more. It neither makes a valid image URL invalid, nor an invalid image URL valid.

Please forgive my ignorance Michael, but I did not know that “invalid content type”, “invalid image” and “”404’s at the browser” all mean the same thing. As I said in my reply to your last response, there is a valid image at that URL because AIOSEO has used that same image at that same URL for FB posts of other pages, when I’ve tested it in the manner.

I have now replaced the image with this one: https://newnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/20190320_NewNotes-Website-FB-Image_4.jpg which does not “404 at the browser”, and I’m still getting the same “invalid content type” error in the debugger.

Hi Michael: I would appreciate hearing from you about how to solve this problem. The test I described in my last post (see above) seems to indicate that it’s not a faulty URL or image that is the problem.

I’ve given you all the help I can. Instead of taking the (free) help I’ve provided, you’d decided to argue with me and create a second thread asking others for help.

https://newnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/20190216_NewNotes-Website-Core-Image_4.jpg is the image configured to share to Facebook. You can see this in the source code. That is not a valid image URL. It’s as simple as that.

I’m long past the point of repeating myself, and frankly, I’m not inclined to continue the loop with someone who’s rude and demanding about getting free support for a free plugin.

    I just tested this:

    https://newnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/20190216_NewNotes-Website-Core-Image_4.jpg

404 – I do not see this image on the web. It does not exist.

    I tested this:

    https://newnotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/20190320_NewNotes-Website-FB-Image_4.jpg

It worked. I see the URL path to the image in my browser.

The first image does not exist. The second image does not have the same file name as the first.

Michael stated above that the the image URL he and I both tested is a 404 – Not Found, as well. It’s been confirmed the file path in the code is the file path for the first image URL and not the second image URL you state, and I confirmed, works in my browser.

You should dump your cache, refresh, and see if it’s the same image you originally had. You can use the Facebook debugger, as well.

Just trying to help out here!

Thanks very much Tony, I really appreciate your help. Being a neophyte at this, I sometimes struggle with terminology and error messages that seem unhelpful. I’m learning as I go. I will try dumping the cache, and see if that solves the problem. Thanks again.

I apologize Michael, I did not mean to come across as argumentative or rude. Being a neophyte at this, I sometimes struggle with terminology and error messages that seem unhelpful. I set up the alternate thread before your second response, as it seemed like my question was not answered and I thought that marking my issue as “Resolved” would shut down all further input – I was evidently wrong about that. I will delete the alternate thread if I can.

    UPDATE:

I tried emptying the caches as was suggested, and the problem did not go away – wrong image was still posted to Facebook for my Home page.
I also tried re-creating my home from scratch, and that didn’t work either. The same Home page image was posted correctly from a page that was not designated as my home page, but the incorrect image was posted as soon as that same page was designated at my home page.

In the end, the only I’ve found to fix this problem, was to deactivate AIOSEO, and use SEO framework instead – the correct image was posted to Facebook the first try using SEO Framework, from the identical home that AIOSEO failed to post the correct image from. It was easy to migrate all my SEO settings to SEO Framework using the plugin “SEO Data Transporter” with no losses.

My thanks to those of you who provided helpful suggestions.
