• I made a new website and uploaded my backup posts from my old site. Now all of the images are missing. My library is just a big gallery of white squares and all my posts are missing their images. As a photographer this is obviously a huge problem for me. How can I fix this??

  • Did you take all photos from your old site (located in the /wp-content/uploads directory) and moved those to the new site?

I uploaded the entire zip file that I had backed up

As @senff eluded to, double check all images are in the right directory, and that this directory is at the right location.

Please forgive me…I’m a bit of an idiot about these things. How would I check that? What folder would they be in?

@senff WordPress sent me a backup each month which I assume should have all those photos in it? The site crashed so I didnt choose to make a new site. I just lost my content and used the back up to import my blogs. Would they not back up all my images with that??

All your uploaded media (photos, PDFs, etc.) should be in the directory /wp-content/uploads. Whether they were present in the .ZIP file, I don’t know.

Is the backup a .ZIP file with all the files? What about the database, how was that backed up and how did you import that?

To clarify: uploading a .ZIP file should not re-import your blog posts; these are located in the database and not in any files.

Can you share a link to your site?

Well….looking at it I guess I only have a backup of my database and its not actually my files. ??
