All Guestbook Posts have Vanished

    Hi there, I’m afraid I’ve hit a bit of a problem with the guestbook and was wondering if you could help. I was running this on a test server with exactly the same plugins now used on the main site and it was working perfectly, but now that I’ve transferred the website across I seem to be having some issues.

    The guestbook was working absolutely fine for a while as I manually added some entries, however when I reached entry number 41 (10 entries were showing on a page so this would have gone onto the 5th page) suddenly everything vanished, even the introductory text at the top of the page that’s just saved within the page itself and nothing to do with the guestbook. I tried deleting post number 41 and everything came back. Strange I thought! … So I set the number of posts to 15 per page and carried on adding, but when I tried going back to 10 again everything would just disappear.

    I decided to try removing the guestbook from the page altogether and then re-adding it, so I did that by clearing all the set guestbooks and then re-setting it to the right page. And unfortunately now I have absolutely nothing showing at all whether it’s set to 15 entries per page or 10 or any number at all.

    I’m completely stumped. This was running on the same version of WordPress with all the same plugins on my test server so I’ve no idea what could be causing the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi Becky

    I suggest you to disable all plugins except DMSGuestbook. After that you should activate every single plugin again to see whether one of them went wrong with DMSGuestbook.

    Many thanks for the quick reply.

    Unfortunately I have tried turning off every single plugin and the page still doesn’t work. ?? The plugin was (and still is actually) working perfectly on the original test server with all the same plugins so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be working here.

    Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Just as another update. I tried setting it back to 15 entries per page again and that works fine now for some reason, but if I set it to 10 it doesn’t. It seems as though every time it tries to go onto a page 5 it crashes the plugin.

    Did your provider installing the Suhosin patch? Some Suhosin settings are very restrictive. Check that on DMSGuestbook -> phpinfo.

    Otherwise I suggest you to create me a wordpress admin account and send me the credentials to DMSGuestbook at DanielSchurter . Net

    Thanks, I’ve sent an email with some login details for you. It does look like Suhosin is installed but I’m not entirely sure as it’s something I’ve never dealt with before.

    Hi Becky

    There is a problem with the U-Design theme and DMSGuestbook. I’ve downloaded three random theme and the guestbook appeared.

    I didn’t change any options on the U-Design theme, maybe that could solve your problem.

    Ah okay, that’s very strange. I’ll try and compare the settings in the theme on the test server to the new one to see if anything could be causing a problem there then. The theme and plugin were definitely working together before so maybe there is some setting that’s causing problems.

    Unfortunately there’s no joy even after completely resetting all the theme options. ?? I can’t change the theme of the website easily so I’m afraid I’ll have to look for a new plugin; definitely a shame as this one was perfect for what I needed.

    Darn i’m recoding a memorial website and am using u-design with the same plugin, and I can’t get the entries to appear ??

    Becky it looks like you got it working, what did you end up doing?

    interestingly, I noticed the Widget still works. Just something with the on-page for some reason. Is there a way to add this guestbook in via shortcode instead?
