All-day event shows 12:00am as starting time

I selected “All-day event” because I do not want a starting time to display. The event still shows a starting time of 12:00am.
Is this by design or can the start time be hidden for all-day events?Saturday, 12:00am – December 08, 2012 In 8 days and 12:50 hours.
