All-day event

I want to have some events displayed only with date and other events with date and time. This was easily possible in older versions (by settings start and end time to 00:00).
Now with this setting the start and end time appear. There is the possibility to hide the end time, but not the start time. There is the option “all day event”, but in this case a (configurable) text is shown. It is not possible to set the “all day event text to empty (<space>).
Which settings should I uase ?
