So, maybe my definition of “child theme” is off, but I just created a child theme using this plugin. I did this because I had made a number of customizations to the theme, and wanted to keep those customizations after I updated the theme to the latest and greatest version.

So the child theme was created just as advertised, no problem.

But when I updated the main (Parent?) theme, the child theme lost all of those customizations.

Yuck. Yes, entire site is backed up, but what a PITA.

    What’d I do wrong?

And now there is absolutely no difference between parent theme and child theme.

So, what was the point of this exercise again? What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same problem, and have no idea what the answer is either…can someone help please?

My big issue is that, apparently, when Frenchtastic created the new version of Coeur, the full page width option got destroyed (although it’s still a clickable option in the customizer), and now all of my pages and posts that were designed for full width pages look HORRIBLE and I can’t get my full page width option back.

Just wondering if the developer answers in private or doesn’t answer at all?

I just went through a similar problem. I am using twentyfourteen. When I created the child theme, some of the customizations were lost. It was too much work to figure out what might have changed by using the child theme, so I went back to editing the parent theme directly. I only had 2 edits to make in header.php and template-tags.php to fix the structured data problems, so I will tackle the child theme solution some other day.

So since I’ve reactivated the parent theme, the files that this plug-in generated will just sit there unused, right? I don’t have to worry that they are sitting in my wp directories?
