Alignment of email bar

Hi,

I have installed the top bar and found that the actual box for typing in an email address sits higher than the surrounding text. It’s not in alignment. I have this bar on most pages of my website. I am very new to wordpress so I would be very grateful for any help.

I would also like to try and add a first name box and a last name box. I found a few previous posts about this and tried the suggestions with no success. As I am completely new to wordpress a lot of this seems complicated. If I need to add code to function.php for example please tell me exactly how and where to put it or if it is fine to add it at the end for example.
