Alignment, layout, spacing issues

I love the plugin, what a great idea and exactly what I need, but can anyone tell me what’s happening here and what I can do about it please?
Huge gaps between rows, excerpts not flowing over lines, images for items in the left column displaying to the right of the right column. It’s all a bit of a mess.
