Align 2 images inline for a landing page

Hi there,
I’m creating a landing page on my blog where I’d like to show readers 2 thumbnails center aligned and inline pointing to 2 different version of a file (book). I’m using a single column template.

I’d like to get something like 37signals home (no animation desired) where they show their 3 products.

Can anyone help me out with this?
