I have entered my Alexa Verification ID correctly – checked and double checked. I have copied it and pasted it directly from Alexa. There are no extraneous spaces at the end. However, the ID is being rejected with the following error message: “Does not seem to be a valid alexaverify verification string. Please correct.” It IS a correct verification string, so what is wrong?

Same here. After updating the plugin, my Alexa Verification ID is no longer accepted. Any clues?

Same for me, I get the following error:

N1p0NEalDW0pT7xxxxxx-xxxxxx does not seem to be a valid alexaverify verification string. Please correct.

x is equal to different characters and numbers and deleted for security

    +1

If we add Google or other site verification ID for Alexa, current version working. I found that Alexa verification ID is not valid text for the current version of the WP SEO v1.5.2. Alexa ID having underscore “_” character, which is not found in other verification IDs. Either this underscore or length of the Alexa Verification ID causing this issue. So, plugin authors must change the valid text for Alexa verification ID. Hope we receive update for this plugin. It’s just a minor bug.

This is a known issue and a fix has been send in.

Updating to 1.5.2.1 solves the problem for me. Thanx!

I am using Version 1.5.2.7 and still have this issue. I am trying to verify my site in Alexa for the first time and have entered the meta value, saved changes, and received the error message “We could not find the verification ID on your homepage. Please add the verification id to the <head></head> section of the HTML of your homepage.” Am I missing something?? If I still have to manually upload the file to my server, I really don’t see how the Webmaster Tools function of SEO by Yoast is helpful. Any suggestions?
