    Hello WF team,

First of all Happy New year!

I noticed the mentioned issue stopped working a while back, not sure if it’s a discontinued function or a conflict with a mail plugin (WP Mail SMTP) despite the plugin working for all other sent out emails.

I have the “Alert me when a non-admin user signs in” checked, all active members on my sites are set to Contributor role.

Oddly enough, I do get the Admin login notification once in a while since I have that option checked for “Only alert me when that administrator signs in from a new device”.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Hello,

Can you confirm the users are logging in from a default WordPress login form, or are they using a custom login area? A custom login form could cause a conflict.

One option is to disable that alert option in the Wordfence > All Options > Email Alert Preferences area, and save the changes. Then re-enable the option and save the changes and see if you receive any going forward.

You mention other emails seem to be working as expected. To be sure, you can test the email functionality via the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Other Tests area. Do those one at a time with your email that you want to receive the alerts at and be sure those are sending as expected.

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for the suggestions, I did few tests and here’s the outcome:

The Members (Contributor role), as well as the Admin, are logging in from a custom page (as opposed to the default WP login page).

Option one was attempted to no avail “Wordfence > All Options > Email Alert Preferences –> Off/On”.

Admin receives all emails whether its the critical alert or the “Only alert me when that administrator signs in from a new device” (Tested by clearing cookies of Browser).

As for the Diagnostics, I tried it with a personal Gmail account and the emails came through for both “Send a test email from this WordPress server to an email address” and “Send a test activity report email”.

Please let me know what other tests I can try or if I need to look into the login page, then again, when the Admin logins, the email is sent out, so I cant isolate it to the login page.

    Thanks for the information, @fanaticweb

Are you able to test a contributor level login on your default login page (if it is still available) to see if the email sends? I suspect the alternative login flow may be playing a role, despite the admin-level user’s login sending out the alert. If you notice on the default login that the email sends when a contributor logs in, that would narrow it down to code specific to the custom login page. If you cannot get an email to send for a contributor level login even on the default page, we can take a closer look here.

    Thanks again,
    Scott
