I recently installed WordFence and have found that the alert emails are being sent to our site’s main email address rather that the once I’ve set in the WordFence options under “General Wordfence Options->Where to email alerts”. Is that a know issue or am I missing something?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Hi @wordhab, thanks for getting in touch.

In my case, and indeed most other customers (as we’re not seeing this issue too often) the email address set in Wordfence’s “Where to Email Alerts” setting is the only place that Wordfence attempts to send emails from and doesn’t default to the administrative email in WordPress’ general settings.

I would consider any mail or SMTP plugins you have installed, or perhaps the email software on your server might have an override set so any emails coming from your site could be routed through a separately set address. Sometimes, a restart of postfix or sendmail (whichever is installed on your server) can force an update if a problem there has gone unnoticed.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
