Akismet plugin not active, I use the byethost server

    I am very new and I seem to have a lot of problems with my wordpress site making. So I wanted to activate akismet and it says :
    –Your web host or server administrator has disabled PHP’s fsockopen or gethostbynamel functions. Akismet cannot work correctly until this is fixed. Please contact your web host or firewall administrator and give them this information about Akismet’s system requirements.–

    all right I have no ideea what to do. I have found other topics on this but still has not resolved this.

    have you contacted your hosting provider and discussed the error message with them

    I have downloaded defensio anti-spam……..I hope it will work. Temporarily bythost is working on something and I cannot connect to server to add the plug-in. As soon as I do I let you know.
