I thought some of you might be interested in seeing what I’ve done with my WordPress site… I’m still running 1.5, but recently used prototype, script.aculo.us, and behaviour Ajax/DHTML libraries to add massively cool Ajax and dynamic HTML functions to the site. Still a work in progress, but I’m quite pleased so far. I had to do a fair amount of hacking of some wordpress includes as well as a couple of plugins.

    https://www.musingsfrommars.org

The main structural change is that I’m using categories as tags, but separating “articles” from three other categories–“News,” “Software,” and “Resources.” These are distinguished by the post_category field in the posts table (which otherwise doesn’t seem to be used much). While there are other solutions for this, I wanted both articles and the other categories to share the same tagbase, as I’m also populating deli.cio.us with each entry as well (I hacked the bookmarklet post code to allow me to blog to both del.icio.us and wordpress from the same form.)

    Aren’t computers fun?

    Cheers,
    Leland

Can you recommend a good AJAX book (I love PHP too).
I’d like to learn more about PHP and MyAdmin, I have a

    greatly appreciated).
    My Best, Judy
