I’m aware of both, the link addon and button addon.. But my question isn’t really about which one of those, I am trying to have either the link or button reduce points without page having to reload.

Example.. I have a gamipress widget in the sidebar or header that shows the current user’s points. If they click gamipress-button or link to reduce his points will that widget or shortcode that shows his points update to the new points number without page refresh?

or do you have a paid for plugin / addon that will?

For the custom code, you can check that all GamiPress scripts (PHP and JS) are plent of hooks and events to let you extend them, so you can use the internal hooks/events triggered to decide when to perform the update of the points widget
