Hi there. This may sound a fairly dumb question but I am stymied. I have your plugin installed and I wish to aggregate reviews from Airbnb, Google and then maybe FB, Twitter etc.

I am picking up some work started by someone else and they have installed a wp review slider pro version that they have stopped support for. It is currently at 11.0.9.2. I am happy that we continue the support but I need to know that I can make it work.

As I look at the Get welcome screen and I see a list of items down the left. The second one is Airbnb. If you click on that there are 17 URLS listed – all for airbnb but with some parameters. Example: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/17378538?source_impression_id=p3_1571158517_q%2FLb3z6wd6CSIR91

How do I ascertain how to populate these?

he one above, if you put into a browser bar then it does show a page. But, others give an error unless you are logged on.

The text on the plugin suggests that the URLs should be similar to:
    https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12351
    https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/312948

all of which looks a lot simpler than what I have!

What do I actually NEED to put in there please and where do I get if from (presumably the target system – in this case Airbnb)

Secondary ask. I also wan to put Google business reviews on the site and the left hand column has an option “Google Places” – is this it? Or does your plugin not support the main Google reviews.

Sorry if this is a bit Janet and John – but I’m struggling to get started.

    TIA

    Hey Tia,
The best way to get support for the Pro version of the plugin is to use the Forum built into the plugin or the Contact page inside the plugin. As far as your questions…

For Airbnb, you would use the URL format that you posted in your question.

    https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12351
    https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/312948

You do not need any of the parameters after the ? in the URL. The Airbnb page must be accessible without being logged in to Airbnb.

For Google, there are three different methods to download Google reviews in the latest release of the Pro version. Get Reviews > Google Places, Get Reviews > Google Crawl, Get Reviews > Review Funnel. Since you are on an older version then you may not have the Crawl method. In that case I would suggest using the Review Funnel method. If you go with the Places API method you will need to create an API Key at Google to use.

    Thanks,
    Josh

OK, thanks for this. I have determined some URLs that fit the format and entered them. I then clicked retrieve and it imported all new reviews. The site then has a template defined for each feed – which I think is probably unnecessary as they are all the same. So, first question – can you share templates for multiple feeds? I am assuming the template ONLY formats and DOESN’T identify the feed?

There is code similar to [wprevpro_usetemplate tid=”4″] on each accommodation with reviews and also a page for all reviews with the following [wprevpro_usetemplate tid=”5″] – and this one gives all reviews. That sort of makes me think that the template is connected to the feed. Is this so?

I see something in Templates/Filter Settings called SELECT LOCATION and when you click this is shows all the reviews but they don’t seem to be identified by the name of the feed? The first one is listed as “Airbnb: Vacation Rentals, Cabins, Beach Houses, Unique Homes & Experiences10 (Airbnb) – pageid: Airbnb:VacationRentals,Cabins,BeachHouses,UniqueHomes&Experiences10_airbnb” which isn’t very helpful.

Being as I have changed all the URLs – should I have deleted the old reviews first and then let it repopulate with new values? There are still some old reviews there.

As for the support within the plugin – can I use that being as the licence has expired?

    Many thanks.

OK, moving on a bit. I can’t use the support on the plugin until I renew the licence. I WILL do that but I just need to get my head round things first.

An update on the previous. I deleted all reviews from my WordPress and then reimported each URL individually and checked the resultant reviews. That then produced a clean set as previously I’d had funny results.

Anyway, I am now clear on my URLs and the imported reviews. I now believe that the templates are for individual feeds and thus if you wish to restrict a feed then it needs a template to do that.

So, I think I am getting there for Airbnb and will look at Google soon. Would you recommend getting the latest version prior to doing that? Did I understand you to say that you have new options within the plugin for Google reviews now? Mine only list Google Places for Google.

    Many thanks.

You can restrict a feed two ways. One, is by using the Filter tab on the review template. Second, there are some parameters that you can use with the Shortcode to filter by source. If you click the “Shortcode” button then in the pop-up there is a link that explains the parameters.

Yes, I would recommend getting the latest version. It has additional methods to download Google reviews.

Many thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

I have progressed with the Airbnb issue but I can report the following. Should a property NOT have any reviews on Airbnb, then you can’t set a filter for it as there is no page to select. If you don’t select a page then it appears to default to showing ALL reviews for ALL properties. So, I have just put some text saying “No Reviews yet” and I will have to remember to change that should any get imported. Unless I am doing this wrong?

    Thanks

That is correct. If it hasn’t downloaded any reviews for a particular property, then it has no way of filtering for that property. It pulls the source location from the actual reviews that it has downloaded.

Thanks for that I have now dealt with the Airbnb reviews. I upgraded the licence and have now imported the Google reviews. For info, I used the Google Crawl method> I followed the video instructions and got my Search Terms of “Bright Property Management” – the panel was to the right but the plugin wasn’t happy. So, I used inspect in Chrome to get the data-pid and used that which worked fine. But, I thought you would like the feedback.

I imported the reviews, set up a new template and they are now displayed on the site.

So, many thanks for all your help. I am going to look at Facebook next – any tips?

    Regards

Good to hear you got it going. For Facebook, you’ll need to be an admin of the Facebook page in order to use Get Reviews > Facebook. Otherwise, you can us the Review Funnel to grab them.
