In the Search Appearance, you specify a minimum of 122×122 for the “logo”, but don’t state if it has to be square or even where this logo will appear.

The WordPress Theme Customizer for the template I’m using already has a place to upload a square icon that shows up on the browser tabs – under Site Identity in the General Settings.

You refer to it as a “logo”, but is it really just going to appear as a tiny icon on a browser tab, or is it going to show up somewhere (where?) as a full blown logo w tagline, etc.?

    Hi @kernvy,

Thanks for reaching out! I see you have multiple inquiries, so please find my answers as follows:

    1. In the Search Appearance, you specify a minimum of 122×122 for the “logo”, but don’t state if it has to be square or even where this logo will appear.
This image does normally have to be square, as it’s sometimes used as a logo for the search results, in the features snippets in Google, etc. But if it’s not square, then a portion of the image you specify might be used instead in search results.
    2. You refer to it as a “logo”, but is it really just going to appear as a tiny icon on a browser tab, or is it going to show up somewhere (where?) as a full blown logo w tagline, etc.?
As mentioned above, it might appear in the search results snippets, for example, like this: https://a.supportally.com/i/TR5KGt
But essentially, it’s added because it will create the Logo schema which is used by Google to add more information to potential search results when the Organization schema is used:

      https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/organization#structured-data-type-definitions

I hope this helps clarify, but please let me know if there’s anything else we can do for you.

You can add the info in the plugin, is the icon

    Hi @guillermo77,

Thanks for your reply. Just to specify, do you mean the format for the logo image? Google Search supports images in the following formats: BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and SVG. It’s also a good idea to have the extension of your filename match with the file type.

Thank you, because webp is relatively new.

@tokyobiyori I talk about icon image, if is possible use webp

About the logo, about what is the image? Is the same that in the theme customizer?

    Hi @guillermo77,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, ideally, it should be the same as the image you added there.
