    Short version:
The backup with BackupBuddy doesn’t work, when the AIO WP sec+fw maintenance mode is enabled.

current AIO WP security+firewall version: 3.9.9
    current BackupBuddy version: 6.3.2.0

    Long version:
I have both BackupBuddy and AIO WP security and firewall installed on my wordpress.
    The problem:
When I start the backup with BackupBuddy (while the maintenance mode is enabled), the backup doesn’t even get through the very first step: “Getting ready to backup”. Not to talk of “Backing up database ” or even “Zipping files”.

    Expected behaviour:
I expect the backup to get through all steps with all my plugins active and the maintenance mode enabled.

When the maintenance mode is disabled, backups work flawlessly.

Please try to reproduce this to see for yourself.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

it’s been one and a half months now. Has there been any progress on this?
Will you be able to fix this? If so, can you estimate a timeframe?

    Thanks.

    Best regards

    Hi there,

sorry, I didn’t see your reply.

Yes, I’m running the latest version of both plugins and the behaviour is still the same.

The plugin developers will investigate further this issue. However I can not promise a time frame.

    Sorry

I too am experiencing this error.

I have always used Backup Buddy on many sites and I have recently switched over to All in One WP Security from ithemes security. Since I have made the switch I cannot run backups.

I have now discovered from reading this thread that if I switch off the maintenance mode “Enable Front-end Lockout” setting in All in One WP Security that my backup will work again.

I guess for now I need to use a different maintenance mode plugin as I like to run backups during a long development process.

It would be good to see resolution as soon as possible.

    Thanks,
    Nicole

Hi has your issue been resolved with the latest version?

    Thread Starter flashbytes

    (@flashbytes)

Nope, sorry. Maintenance mode still causes BackupBuddy to get stuck right in the first step.

    Everything is up-to-date:
    WordPress (4.4.2)
    BackupBuddy (7.0.3.0)
    WP Security (4.0.6)

Do you receive any sort of error message? Can you check the log files?

The only solution to this issue for now is to create backups without enabling Maintenance Mode for now.

I am marking this thread as resolved. If you run into any other issue please let us know.

    Thank you
