Aggregation of comments stopped

Hello,
I guess I need some help to find out why the social plugin on one of my websites stopped aggregating comments.
Whenever I open a blog post in the admin panel and click on search for comments the plugin does the job and finds comments but the automation has gone. It’s only since recently, let’s say 3 weeks or so, that it stopped.
The cron job is done by wp-cron and of course I’m using a cache plugin too (w3 total cache) but I used it for a very long time now, so it would be odd if it stopped working recently and should have to do with caching.
I would really appreciate if someone could advise me in the right direction on how to locate the problem.
