    Hi,
I just installed Yoast for a website which has been around for some time. So far I added meta title and meta descriptions in WordPress’s onboard fields. Since I have activated Yoast that old data isn’t displayed there anymore.

What happens to the old descriptions? Do I have to update all my old posts now or are the old descriptions still used and displayed even if the Yoast field is empty? Will it be overwritten as soon as I enter a new description in the Yoast field?

    Thank you for your help.

After you activate the Yoast SEO plugin, it might overwrite the previous meta description and title. If you’ve completely left the custom SEO title and meta description empty, it would not output that information in the page source unless there are custom template variables specified on it.

Thank you. I found out Yoast overwrites my meta description. But there is a way to import the old data with SEO Data Transporter.
