• on https://www.travel-radio.eu we are using shelf PRO child als desktop theme – and for users, who access the website through tablets, an adapted child theme for Hexa, called Circa 4.
The switch is initiated through the plugin mobile smart, Version 1.3.8
The Podcast plugin is Blubrry PowerPress, Version 6.0.1 It uses the wordpress media-element player, which is for the design slightly modified within the CSS parameters of the two themes shelf and circa 4.

Now, since the update to WP 4, we notice, that the four navigation buttons on top of the website of Circa 4 (so, just to be seen, when you access travel-radio through an iPad or tablet) are out of function on all websites, where there is an audio-player embedded. So, on the main-page and every page (with a talk), you access via direct url. On all other pages (f.ex. pics, comments, links, videos..) the navigation buttons work very well.

When we deactivate the PowerPress plugin (so, when the play-buttons disappear from the website) everything works fine with the navigation buttons on ALL pages. But that can’t be the solution on a podcast-site ??

Do you have an idea, what might have happened through the update of WP (before that, it worked really fine) and how it might be fixed..?

thanks so much for your support!

Hi Juergen – I’m not sure what in the WordPress v.4 core update could have caused your child theme’s navigation to stop working. Could you give me links to a couple of specific pages or posts where the navigation isn’t working?

Have you tried posting in the plugin’s forum to see if one of the devs there knows why there would now be a conflict?

f.ex., if you go to the mainpage https://www.travel-radio.eu, you will recognize (in the tablet-version with CIRCA) that the nav-buttons do not work.
same, if you go f.ex. to this subpage https://travel-radio.eu/touristik-setzt-auf-griechenland/
because there is an audio player integrated.
If you go f.ex. to the subpage https://travel-radio.eu/mode-trifft-auf-hoteldesign/ the buttons will work… (reason, there is no audio-plugin integrated…

Thanks for the tip to post the problem also there at the blubrrys Power Press forum. I didn’t do it yet, because the problem only occurs within our tablet design CIRCA, but not in any other design. Even wp-touch works fine for the smartphones…

The navigation menu works just fine for me on these two pages using an iPhone 5s with Safari, running iOS 8.1.3.

    Could you let me know:

    – what specific device you’re using (i.e. Nexus 7)
    – what version of Android you’re using (i.e. Android 4.4.4 Kitkat) – visit https://whatismyandroidversion.com/ if you’re not sure
    – what browser you’re using (Chrome)

hmm.., on the iPhone 5S you should see the design of WP-TOUCH plugin theme, don’t you? (I see it on my iPhone 5 S with 8.1.3)
But if you use the iPad (I use the iPad 4 (Model MD515FD/A with IOS version 8.1.3 and built-in Safari browser) i see my page in the HEXA/CIRCA design – with the mentioned problems concerning the na-buttons on pages with audio-player

Oh wow – so you have three different versions of the site? Thanks for clarifying, I didn’t realize you had a desktop, phone, and tablet version! (Side note: that’s a lot to maintain, isn’t it? Wouldn’t one responsive version be easier to manage?)

Let me do some further testing and get back to you.

Thanks for your quick response. It’s a bit more complicate with three themes, but as shelf isn’t responsive, and I want to use it for desktop, it was the easiest way?

I got a response in the blubrry Support forum. Maybe it is helpful for you:
