    Hello –

I have the events calendar and events calendar pro running together. When the events calendar was updated to version 4.3.4.2 the areas to add new events are now gone. The Events Calendar PRO version is at 3.8.1. I understand that it needs to be updated and I don’t want to make assumptions BUT if the fix is an update that would mean that you are forcing customers to renew their PRO licenses at a cost by updating the FREE version. I understand the importance of updates but the paid plugin should not be intentionally broken by you guys in order to force people to renew. That’s what seems happened here and if it is that is hardly a customer focused business model and at the very best…not very nice to force upon your customers. Can you clarify or explain please? thanks so much.

  • Hey @mshane8,

Totally understand your concern – no one likes to have their arm twisted! (And that’s certainly not our intention!) Let me shed some light here:

It’s important that to note that all of our products come with a full refund within 30 days of purchase — in other words, we’re not in the business of locking anyone into a situation that does not work for them. ??

Additionally, regarding your configuration specifically, the difference between 3.8 and 4.3 is significant enough to not expect that those versions would work together. Our licenses provide access to updates in addition to support, and this is made possible by the renewal cost, which is discounted from the original purchase cost.

We welcome you to keep your The Events Calendar version at 3.8.1 if you want the matched functionality (you can download older versions here), but we must balance that invitation with our duty to our customers to actively develop and maintain our products. If we were to make all our plugins backwards compatible across the hundreds of versions we’ve shipped in the past, we would have a pretty bloated product, which we try to avoid for quality purposes.

Finally, this is not a known issue that we are aware of, assuming that all plugins are at matched versions, so you shouldn’t anticipate that renewing your license (or downgrading the free plugin) would fail to resolve this issue.

I hope all of this information about our licensing and development methods is helpful! Let us know if you need anything else!

    Best,

    Shelby ??
