Hi. I updated woocomerce yesterday and things are not working anymore. I uploaded new subcategory “Mirrors” that exist and have a parent “Home Decor” (1st level) but doesn’t show in home decor.
Here is the home decor page: https://www.browninteriors.com/product-category/home-decor/
Here is the Mirrors Page that has a parent home decor: https://www.browninteriors.com/product-category/home-decor/mirrors/
I was trying to update the parent cat thinking the problem in it and tried to put mirrors in “other furniture” 2 level subcategory and now it shows there even thought I already changed it back to parent home decor (https://www.browninteriors.com/product-category/furniture/view-all-furniture/). And all my “view all furniture” products are gone. I also tried to put it in Furniture (1st level) it doesn’t show there ether.
I tried to deactivate all the plugins, updated the theme, and activated twenty seventeen theme also but the issue stays.
Also after update I got the uncategorized folder that is empty but still shows and I did change the url and name on it but it doesn’t work: (https://www.browninteriors.com/shop/) you can see uncategorized folder on the left even though the name and url is changed.
It’s been very frustrating so I would highly appreciate if somebody could help me out and explain what’s going on..
    Thank you

    Hi @katerynaq,

I just checked the Home Decor category and I can see Mirrors inside it:

I can also see 416 products under View Furniture, and no Uncategorized category on the homepage:

Did you solve your problem already, or is there some other place I should be looking at?

    Cheers!

    Hello @madeincosmos,
Thank you for your response. I figured out there is an issue with the Woocommerce update 3.3.1 so I rollback to 2.6.1 and everything showed up and works fine with that update. But I came back to 3.3.2 as it is a better version for css (hoping that issue with categories would be fixed by now) but I still see uncategorized category even though it doesn’t even exist (it was empty – shows up; looking at the forums I change a different category as a default and deleted uncategorized category but it still shows right now https://www.browninteriors.com/shop/. Also recounted terms and cleared WooCommerce transients didn’t work. Tried to hide it with css – didn’t work. It disappears every time I roll back to 2.6 version but I really hope you have some solution to it so I can stay at the current version.
    Please let me know,
    Thank you!

    Hi @katerynaq,

I see what you mean now. Indeed, the latest WooCommerce version now requires a default category for new products (which by default is called Uncategorized). I fully agree that the transition was far from perfect, and we’re working on better ways to introduce this must-have category.

As for now, you can either:

    – Rename this category, and use it as a default for all new products, or
    – Use a mini-plugin to hide it from the shop page. You can download the plugin and find more info about it here: https://calebburks.com/hide-uncategorized-default-category-in-woocommerce/

    Hope this helps!
