• After updating Jetpack from to 3.6.1, I’m seeing this error message when trying to connect to WordPress.com:

Your Jetpack has a glitch. Something went wrong that’s never supposed to happen. Guess you’re just lucky: verify_secrets_missing
    Try connecting again.

Error Details: The Jetpack server encountered the following client error: Verification took too long

I have not had this problem with previous updates to Jetpack. Suggestions?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you try to upload and install this small plugin on your site, and then click on the button in your admin bar to flush your site’s cache:

Once you’ve done so, try to connect Jetpack to WordPress.com again, and let me know how it goes.

Same symptoms: Error Details: The Jetpack server encountered the following client error: Verification took too long I cycled through the “Flush Cache” and “Connect to WordPress.com” sequence three times.

The server is hosted on Amazon EC2, and I have quite a number of plugins installed. Would a list of plugins help diagnose the issue?

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

Oh, nuts. It was iThemes Security. I had set it to block all access to XML-RPC. The “Known Issues” page that was linked off the Jetpack Debug page provided the clue.

    Sorry for the bother.
