• I’ve had Better WP Security installed for months with no problems. I could log in fine 4 days ago… now I can’t. I am using the “hide backend” feature. The feature redirects to
    mysite.com/wp-login.php?myhidebackendpassword&redirect_to=/wp-admin/
correctly, but this page now gives me a “page not found” error.

I’m assuming this change is due to a recent update of one of my plugins (I use the Advanced Automatic Updates plugin to keep my plugins updated, so my plugin updates happen automatically). I get an email when a plugin is updated. Here is a list of my plugins that have been updated in the last 4 days:

    NGFB Open Graph+
    WordPress SEO
    MaxButtons
    Broken Link Checker
    Better WP Security

    Any suggestions?
    Jacob

  • Did you find a fix for this? I’ve just updated and am having the same problem!

If you haven’t done so already, I’ve fixed access.

I viewed my .htaccess file and searched for a line which included my secret URL. I found a reference to this and deleted the line, in the hope that I’d be able to log in again via wp-admin.php, but this didn’t work.

I tried to login in again via my secret URL and lo and behold, I could log in again!

Incidentally, just after doing that I checked the theme page and after reading through it, came across this:

Most settings from Better WP Security will transfer to iThemes Security except for the Hide Backend Setting. You’ll need to reset your Hide Backend Setting due to a new implementation of the feature. In addition, you’ll still want to review your settings after the update as there are new options you will be able to use.

    Thanks for the warning, huh?
