    Hi,
when a customer uses a coupon and then pays using PayPal, WooCommerce sets the order to pending instead of processing, even if the payment had been received.
For us it’s pretty important that the order is automatically changed to pending because we use also a dropshipping plugin and our seller doesn’t receive the order when the state is “pending”.
Our products (clothes) are neither set to “virtual” nor “digital”.
    Thank for your help!

    Hello there,

Thanks for contacting us, I hope you are doing well ??

Could you please explain me better so that I can understand the problem you are experiencing?

In addition to that, please also check the configuration of the plugin that you use for PayPal payments, because generally in these you can configure the change of status of the orders.

Let us know any news, please.
    Have a nice day!

    Hi Luciano,
Of course, I’ll try and describe the user’s experience:

    1) Someone receive a gift card;
    2) They visit our website and decide to buy a t-shirt
    3) At the checkout they input che gift card code to reedem it
    4) The total amount to be payed is now the price of the t-shirt minus the amount of the coupon
    5) The user successfully proceeds to the payment with PayPal.
    6) The seller (we) receives the payment on their PayPal account but the order status on WooCommerce is still “pending”.
    7) The seller must manually change the order status to “processing” for the dropshipping company to receive it.

Usually, when a buyer pays with PayPal, the order automatically changes to “processing”. This different behaviour (changing to “pending”) happens only when the buyer uses a gift card code during a purches.

We would like all the payed orders to change to “processing”.

We don’t understand if we are missing out on any product (even the gift card product) or woocommerce configuration.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello there,

Thanks for your reply, I hope you are doing well ??

Perfect, now I better understand the problem you are experiencing, could you tell me which plugin you use for PayPal payments? To see if I can get some corresponding configuration to find the correct operation in this plugin integration.

Let us know any news, please.
    Have a nice day.

    Hi Luciano,

we are not using that plugin because it gave us a lot of problems.
PayPal Standard is among the integrated payment solutions. Here it is https://woocommerce.com/document/paypal-standard/

    Best regards.

    Hello there,
    sorry for the delay!

Do you use the WooCommerce coupon field or the one in our plugin? If you don’t use our plugin, try to do it and check if the problem persists, please.

If the problem persists, it may be due to PayPal Standard, as WooCommerce recommends using PayPal Payments instead of Standard. You can see this in the link you have provided:

Since WooCommerce version 5.5.0, PayPal Standard is hidden for new installations. This change doesn’t affect existing stores. We strongly encourage everyone using PayPal standard to use the recommended PayPal Payments extension instead, which is our full-stack solution (credit card processing, PayPal checkout, subscriptions, pay later options, etc).

Let us know any news, please.

    Have a nice day.
