    Hi!

On my site I had this page, called “work”, with a lot of content which I wanted to split up in a couple of subpages. So I made new pages for each segment and set the parent page to “work”, hoping they would show up on that page as links, or I could create links to them on that page. It seemed like it worked fine, but when I logged back in a couple of days later, I couldn’t access or edit these pages anymore. They show up among the other pages, but when I open them, they are empty and when I ask to preview them, I get the “page not found” notification.

There is a lot of text on these pages I really don’t want to lose. (Because it seemed to work just fine, I made a back-up page with all this content, which I also can’t access anymore)

Does anyone know what went wrong? Can I recover the content?

    Thanks a million in advance!

  • Hi,

    Just a couple of questions:

When you view the pages in the dashboard are they also blank?

Can you see any revisions when you edit the page?

    Hi!
Yes, when I view them in the dashboard they are also blank. I can access them with quick edit, but anything I change changes back when I save and go back to the quick edit. And when I click ‘edit’ or ‘view’. it loads a blank screen, so I can’t revision the pages.

WordPress has a feature called revisions that might help you restore your pages.

When you click “edit” on a specific page and scroll to the bottom of the page editor there should be a section that says “Revisions” with several dates listed. If you click on one of older dates it should display one of the first versions of that page, hopefully with all the initial content you had.

    Hi @smc2935,

Sorry for my late reply. I got super discouraged, but I’m ready to try and fix this again. I tried your tip, but sadly it didn’t work. As you instructed, I clicked edit on one of the problematic pages, but it took me to a blank page with this message:

“The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

I can’t find a message with instructions anywhere tho.
I hope you can still help me, I will reply immediately this time! ??

I fixed it today! The problem was a plugin! Advanced twenty seventeen, or a css editor, i’m not sure, but i’ve deleted all my plugins (not just deactivating, for some reason that didn’t work) and now I can access everything again!
    Super happy.

Cool, glad you got it fixed ??
