After plugin installation complete website went down

    Hello,
    After downloading the plugin as zip and installing it manually at WordPress Plugins dashboard screen, during installation complete website went down and now can’t access even the wordpress login page.

    I can’t find this plugin folder in FTP to rename it, where are the files stored?

  • @jrj9 I just tested going to the site and it seems to be working now. Were you able to figure out the issue?

    The plugin is stored in this location: wp-content/plugins/simple-website-redirect.

    Actually, it looks like you may have bigger problems. I just loaded again and got “Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.”. Maybe your host is doing some maintenance?

    Thanks for the response.

    In fact I didn’t find the plugin folder at /wp-content/plugins/simple-website-redirect and seeing that the page was down and after trying a couple of things to bring it up I had to make a Full Account Backup at cPanel in order to bring the page back and running (as it was 1 day before installing the Simple Website Redirect plugin).

    The message “Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.” happened when I was doing the backup, after it was fixed correctly.

    @jrj9 I just wanted to check and see if you actually downloaded the plugin from www.remarpro.com, or from another website.

    It could be if you downloaded from another source, that the code was altered in some way (e.g. to contain malware) and could have been why the site crashed. This could also explain why it wasn’t found at the normal install location.

    This plugin has over 10k active installs and you’re the first to report any kind of crash on plugin install. Most people install through the WordPress admin, which is the safest way to install the plugin.
